just returned from a two day visit to the California Animal Health & Food Safety Lab in San Bernardino, California, where I photographed specimens in the necropsy room, including the one shown above. I gave a talk and demonstration on lighting techniques for reducing glare in photographs. One of those techniques, cross polarization, I describe in this post.

The Branch Chief, Dr. Francisco Uzal, was a wonderful host, and the entire staff was welcoming. In addition to the formal talk, we had productive informal discussions on photographic equipment and techniques.
